Mallory in the News

Mallory's picture was in our local newspaper on Thursday. It was a picture taken at school. It showed her placing a valentine into a mail box. Beside that picture was another one with her class. In that one, she was in the back of the line, holding her teacher's hand.

Don't worry, I have copies for all grandparents. Be checking your mail next week.

The Classics: # 5

Here is a picture of my TN family. At this time we were celebrating my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary.

My aunt Mary Jo hosted the party and had served excellent cake.

Please note that I was pregnant in this picture--not fat but pregnant!!! (Kris was too)

The Eye Clinic

Ugh!! It was a terrible, miserable, long, horrendous, terrifying, and frustrating day. Our appointment was at 1:30. We left Waycross at 11:30. We arrived on time and were seen at around 2:15, which isn't really bad--considering. Mallory was really tired and fussy. She was so bad that I wanted to cry!

The purpose of this visit and previous ones is because Mal's vision hasn't significantly improved since wearing the glasses and her left eye still curves inward. The doctor wants to ensure that her vision isn't digressing or damage on the surface hasn't occured.

On this visit, she did better on the vision test. However, they played around with various strengths and have decided to give her a new eye glass prescription. We go back in 3 months for an evaluation.

My Baby......

Tonight Daniel, Mallory and I visited Krystial and her family in the hospital. I got to hold baby Bryce for the first time. He is so cute!! (I think he has his mama's nose.) Anyway, it prompted me to find Mal's baby pictures. I couldn't clearly remember what she looked like. I am sharing a newborn picture (bottom) and a current picture that was taken this past Sunday.

I would have shared more photos of baby Bryce but I forgot my camera--I know, can you believe it???

Tomorrow we have another appointment in Jacksonville. Mallory is scheduled to be seen at the eye clinic. I'll keep you posted but we probably won't be back until late.

Welcome Creighton Bryce Harold

Today one of my BFF's, Krystial, had her first child. It was a boy and she named him Craighton Bryce Harold. They will be calling him Bryce. He weighs 7 lbs and 12 ounces.

I didn't get to hold him because when I arrived, the nurses were still testing him. I plan to take my turn tomorrow.

I am happy to report that mother and son are doing well. Both are happy that the ordeal is over.

Weekend News

This weekend was a little different. Mallory still awoke very early (around 6:15am). She got up and did an okay job of letting me sleep. At around 7:00, I must have been dreaming because I suddenly awoke to what I thought was Mallory knocking on my bedroom window. I was scared to death!! I jumped up and ran to all 3 of our doors. I couldn't find her. I yelled her name. She answered by saying, "right here mama." She was sitting on the floor ,in the living room, under her art desk, picking up paper. I asked if she knocked on anything and she started knocking on the wall.

We skipped Jerry J's. Instead we cooked our own breakfast. We went to the public library. She picked out 3 books and wanted another book about an alligator with tomatoes on the porch. I told her I would ask her teacher about that book. We also went to the grocery store. Big fun.

Daniel and I opted out of his family dinner. We went to Jacksonville to spend our tax refund. We each bought some new clothes. Mallory is getting some new clothes too but the mailman will be bringing them.

Back to the Present: New Video

Here is a video that was shot this afternoon. I saved the file right side up but for some reason it is not uploading right. I think you will get the idea. In it, Mallory is dancing to a song in the movie, Walk the Line.

The Classics: # 4

In honor of a recent e-mail, I decided to post pictures of our old beach vacations. Aunt Judy K, I was so happy to hear from you!! I am so glad that you are enjoying my blog. When I read your e-mail, it made me think about these vacations.

I clearly remember the first and the last pictures being taken. In the first, Uncle Ken was trying to read the newspaper. Kris and I bothered him so much that he eventually gave up.

I think the last picture was taken at the end of one of our trips. I can't even remember how many vacations we took and what years they were in. I admit, I laughed out loud when I saw all these photos. We had so much fun together.

Let this be proof: I have old (and terrible--if truth be told) pictures of everyone that follows this blog. And I am not above posting them.........

The Classics: # 3

This picture was taken at my cousin Julie's wedding. As you can see, Kristy was a bridesmaid. It was a Christmas wedding and it was held in a historical house in Valdosta, GA. The wedding was awesome. Although I don't remember this picture being taken, I know we had a great time.

I can't believe how blond I was!

The picture was taken right after Kristy found out she was pregnant with Kirsten. I don't think I was pregnant yet. I was just a little bigger back then.

I'm guessing Russell took this picture and I think it was taken in Nov/Dec 2002.

The Classics: # 2

Here are some more "classic" pictures. Mallory loves looking at these pictures. So far, she hasn't recognized anyone. She keeps asking, "whose that?" When I tell her she says, "no its not!"

I think my Grandma Yeager made both sets of dresses. She also made the purses in the second picture.

Classic # 1

Here is my first classic. Mallory and I enjoyed looking at all of them. She wanted them all blown up so she could clearly see them. She was shocked at the pictures of her young grandmother. It has been a long time since I have looked at pictures of my great grandmother.

Even as a baby, my beauty was obvious.

Stay tuned. I have a bunch more to show!!!

Atlanta Bound

I just won Braves tickets. The game is on 4/16. We will go to the game that night and hopefully drop Mal off at Don and Ann's. On Friday we will spend the day at Stone Mountain and on Saturday we will either go to the zoo or to the aquarium.

Now I have to tell Daniel......

It Was A Long Weekend

This weekend was like most. We hung around the house, went grocery shopping, and ate lunch with Daniel's family.

Of course Mal awoke before dawn each day. And of course she refused to nap. Therefore, by 7pm, it is VERY difficult to keep her awake. She can go out like lightening--just like Daniel.

Here, I turned my back to send e-mail-mom check your e-mail-and she was gone. We are talking two minutes. I should have recognized the silence!!

Our Valentine Loot

Pictured is Mallory with our Valentine loot. She helped Daniel pick out my pink tulips. I love them and I think she picked out her own balloon. Not seen is the gift that we got Daniel. We bought him some new golf balls.

Me and My Sis

Here is a picture of me and Kris. It was taken last night. My blog is full of pictures of Mallory so I thought you would like a change. Don't worry--its not permanent.

Kristy is looking glam as usual. I'm thinking about visiting Merle Norman or the Clinique counter soon. I think it is about time to hide the dark circles under my eyes.

SURPRISE, Happy Birthday

Kirsten, Cadee, Mallory and I gave Kris a surprise birthday party. It was so much fun and the girls had a blast. Mallory and I arrived at Kris's house at 6:00. When we got there, Kristy left because she had to go to the store. She asked me to watch the girls. As soon as she left, I told them that I had a birthday cake in the car. I asked if they wanted to go shopping for some presents and if they wanted to have a surprise birthday party. Of course they yelled (especially Mallory), "YES!"

We went to Fred's (a local Dollar Store) to buy presents. Kirsten chose nail polish and a nail kit, Mallory picked out a picture frame and a notebook. Cadee selected valentine candy and chap stick.

We rushed home to wrap our presents and the girls stuck candles in the cake. We also decorated the walls and counter tops with streamers. The girls taped streamers everywhere!!

When we were finished, I texted Kris. She texted me back to say she was pulling in. The girls and I hid behind a recliner. We also turned out the lights. When Kris came inside, we jumped up and yelled "surprise, happy birthday."

We sang happy birthday and ate cake and ice cream for dinner.

My New Color

Mallory took this photo of me tonight. I look terrible, I know, but I wanted you to get a good look at my new color. What do you think--about my hair color--not my "shower fresh" look?

Below, is the real reason why I got the camera out. Mallory was literally rolling on the floor pitching a fit. I thought it was hilarious! She heard me laugh and got even madder. Poor thing, she was soooooo tired she couldn't stand it. Therefore, I did what all of my parenting books say to do--I walked out--to get the camera. As you can see, once I started snapping pictures, she cheered up!

Happy Birthday Sam

This weekend we celebrated Sam's 6th birthday. For those of you who don't know, Sam is my dad's youngest (by far) son.

All of the Thigpen cousins were there. Of course Mallory was in the center of all activity.

In the bottom picture from left to right: Little Danny, Becky, Cadee, Kirsten and my star, Mallory.

Grandma Ann and Papa Don Vist

This weekend, we had visitors. Daniel's dad and step mom visited from Atlanta. We haven't seen them since Mal's birthday so we exchanged Christmas presents. Mallory loved her gifts.

We also went to church with them and had lunch with Daniel's entire family. Mallory really enjoys her grandparents and loves it when they come into town.

When I Awoke

When I finally dragged myself out of bed this morning, I found Mal hard at work. First, I noticed that she gotten down the cheese crackers and a bowl. I found her washing dishes. Literally, with water and a LOT of soap!!!. At least she was using a sponge.

In my defense, I didn't even know she had gotten up. I awoke at 7:45 so don't think I totally slept in!!!

Look What I Found

A couple of weeks ago, I cleaned out the closet in our work out room. I found this book. It was given to Kristy, Danny, and I when we were kids. I think it came from Uncle Tom.

Tonight, Mallory chose it as a bed time story. She wasn't really "into it." She has been suffering from a terrible cough and a runny nose. I am also worried about her ears. She hasn't complained about them but usually she gets an ear infection whenever she has a cold.

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Once a Messy Eater.....

Always a messy eater. I distinctly remember this incident.

Once again the pictures did not show up in the correct order.

As I am sure you can guess, Mallory had Ravioli for lunch, still a favorite. For dessert she had Cheetos. If you look at the pictures starting at the bottom, you will see that she placed the chips in her drink, which was tea, and then ate them.

After she finished eating, I literally took her outside and hosed her down. At first she was afraid of the water but quickly learned to enjoy it.

These pictures were taken in May of 2006.

Mallory and I love looking at old photos. Mallory thinks these pics are funny. She has been picking out the favorite photos.

Happy 86th Birthday Great Grannie Thigpen

Today was my Grannie's birthday. Mallory and I visited and brought cup cakes from Holt's Bakery. Grannie loved the cup cakes but also baked a cake. It was her famous chocolate cake so Mallory and I ate her cake while she ate the cup cakes.

In these pictures, Mallory is being silly. She was "trying" to keep her eyes opened.

After receiving a bad note from school on Friday and yesterday, this morning I told her that ugly girls will not be eating birthday cake tonight. The threat worked because she received a sticker today. She may look like her father but she acts like me. She loves all junk food, especially dessert.

From the Vault

I found this video while looking for last night's picture. I thought it was so cute so I am sharing it with you.

It seems like forever since Mallory looked and climbed like that.

p.s. thanks for the reading recommendations. They really helped a lot!!!

Favorite Photo # 9

I love this picture!! It was taken in May, 2006. I don't remember much about it. I am guessing that I was complaining about having to constantly pick up hats and as I was throwing them at Daniel, he and Mal just put them on. I think they look like 2 thugs.
