The girls had a lot of fun! They played Barbies, spent a lot of time outside, and of course applied make up!
They stayed up late watching a movie and awoke at around 6:30.
No one wanted to run the race. Kirsten said running makes her chest hurt and Mallory said she was too tired. Instead, we went to Chic-Fil-a.

Birthday Cake
March 24th is Krystial's birthday. To celebrate, Mallory and I made her a birthday cake. It was "green cake" aka key lime cake. Mallory decorated it.
We also bought Krystial a spa towel robe. Krystial is the aquatics director at our local YMCA and she is constantly getting in and out of the pool. I thought the towel would make these transitions easier and more comfortable. It was lime green and a big K was monogrammed on the front. It was really pretty and she loved it!
Weekend plans: slumber party, possible fun run (depending on kids), and a massage. Guess which part I am most looking forward to!

Next weekend: slumber party, one mile fun run (if I can talk the kids into it) and a massage.

My Breakfast
This morning, Mallory "cooked" breakfast. She prepared potato chips and a Little Debbie snack, which she unwrapped.
When I awoke this morning, she had fixed 3 plates. She put Daniel's in the microwave since he was at work.

Mallory's New Eye Glasses
Today Mallory got her new eye glasses. They are more purplish than pink and they came with a cool new case.
They also have 3 butterflies on the frame and another one on the end piece that fits behind her ears.
This prescription has a stronger lens on the left side. This is the lazy eye so this problem should be getting better.
p.s. Mallory is like me--at the end of the day we look haggard.

Spring Fashion
Mallory dressed for spring today. She wore a pink dress with a small white sweater. She also wore her white sandals. She looked so springy but I think she got a little cold! I thought today was going to be warmer.

Survival of the Fittest

Yep, me, Lealane, and Krystial are definitely fit. We completed a 15K today. See the following link for details: http://www.gate-riverrun.com/
The race included two high bridges. As most you know, I have an intense fear of heights and bridges really do freak me out.
My personal race details: Started out fairly good. My plan was to start slow--a 12 minute pace. At about 2.5 miles into the race, I felt the need to potty. At this point, the route was residential. There were no port-a-potties until mile 5. I was very uncomfortable--as you can imagine-- but continued to run. At mile 5, I found a potty. It took me 7 minutes. Continued to run till around 6.5 miles. I started feeling pain in my knees and was beginning to get really tired. Therefore, I began to walk and at mile 7 started running again. I ran for another half mile and then started walking again. My plan was to restart at mile 8. Wrong!! Mile 8 was the start of the second bridge, Hart Bridge. The steep incline isn't easily recognized in the picture but was felt. I continued to walk till mile 9 and then ran in. After adjusting my time (must deduct the potty break, right? Only fair) I finished in about 1:55:00. My overall goal was to finish within two hours but knew I wouldn't get in before 1:45:00. Overall, I am pleased.
As only good friends, Lealane and Krystial joined me. Karina (Krystial's sister), and Jared (Karina's boyfriend) also ran. Lealane took some great pictures so check out her blog, The Sanders Family (link on the right side). I forgot to place batteries in my camera!

Mallory's Missing Tooth
Yep, the tooth fairy came last night.
Mallory lost a top front tooth, making her look like a jack rabbit. Timing couldn't be more perfect--Easter pics on March 20.
I'll post a pic of her new smile and my new hair color soon.
I asked the teacher to allow Mallory to mark through objects as she counts them on paper. She sent a note back saying it takes too much time. She said Mallory sometimes forgets the number she is on and has to start over. As a result, they are having to spend time erasing the marks. Can you believe this????? I just placed a note in her folder saying, "I just want her to use the method that she is most successful with--regardless of time consumption." After all, this is a skill that must be mastered to pass kindergarten.

Is there anything worse....
than your child being sick???? I took Mallory to the doctor today. Her ear drained again last night and it was full of "ear buggers" this morning. Dr. Berzinch ran a lot of different tests. Mallory has strep throat!
My baby's appointment was at 10:15, which is when we arrived. Daniel and I tag teamed and I left at noon. They didn't leave until 1:00. Ridiculous!
Needless to say no more school tomorrow and no work for me. Hopefully she will be better by Wednesday and neither me or Daniel will get sick.

Weekend Update
Bad News:
1) Mallory is still sick. She has been running a low grade fever all day.
2) She also had a crusty ear, which means her ear is draining. This is not good. She said it didn't hurt, just crusty. I'm hoping it is fluid from the cold and not an ear infection. We cleaned it out tonight and I will check it tomorrow morning.
3) Mallory is also coughing.
4) Probably will be staying home with Mal tomorrow. I will stay home half a day and Daniel will be home around noon--allowing me to keep my teeth cleaning appointment and work for a half day.
5) House is a disaster
6) Dreading next weekend, which is the Jacksonville race.
Good News:
1) Received a hair color change. I am very dark haired--nearly black. I'm getting used to it.
2) Had a pedicure.
3) Found an awesome pair of Madden's on sale at local shoe store. Red heels. Love them!

First Saturday of March
Started like our other Saturdays. Mallory awoke early and was anxious to get to Jerry J's. First, we gathered our library books, which sparked renewed interest. Here is a clip of Mallory reading.
I ate. Sometime between driving there and receiving our food, Mallory's stomach started hurting. She didn't eat the sausage, hash brown, or grits that she loves. She did feel like going to the library and chose 5 new books.
She really didn't feel good. She fell asleep while watching Finding Nemo. First, she never watches a movie and secondly, she never falls asleep before 2:00.
She didn't want to have her nails done. She stayed with Daniel while I went. They took a nap (Mal's second for the day) and when I returned I gave her more motrin. It didn't take long and she was feeling better. She hasn't stopped talking yet! I'm glad she is feeling better.

New Hair Bows
All pretty girls need bows! Everyone knows that. Since Mallory hasn't had any new ones lately, I ordered her 4 more. We opted for funky prints and bright colors, including one guitar ribbon (because we love rock n roll)!
Here is the link for the great hair bows. I have already asked Mrs. Brenda to make special Easter hair bows.

Notice Mallory's new t-shirt. Gone are the days where I can choose the very cute, preppy style clothing. Mallory personally chose this shirt and another similarly designed t-shirt last week.

Cookies Anyone????
Everyone knows that calories don't count when family are in town!
The girls had fun "making" chocolate chunk and butter crunch cookies.
I think they liked the cookie dough better. In fact, Cadee asked if she could have some "uncooked" cookies when I gave her a baked one!
